CHERRY HILL, NJ – Chief Kempf and the men and women of the Cherry Hill Police Department would like to congratulate Captain Richard Humes on his retirement after 25 years of dedicated service.
Captain Humes began his career in the Police Department in 1997 as a patrol officer assigned to the Operations Division. He later served as a Field Training Officer within the Operations Division tasked with training new police officers one on one, out on patrol.
Captain Humes also served as an Emergency Vehicle Operator instructor, where he assisted in training patrol officers on how to safely operate emergency vehicles.
Captain Humes was promoted to Detective assigned to the Internal Affairs Unit, was later promoted to Patrol Sergeant. He then served as Detective Sergeant, where he also acted as the Department’s Public Information Officer.
Captain Humes was promoted to Lieutenant of the Administrative Services Unit. During this time, he attended the Northwestern School of Police Staff and Command, and graduated in 2019.
Captain Humes was then promoted to Captain of the Services Division where he remained for the rest of his career. As captain, he oversaw the Department’s fleet and assisted in getting the Department’s first ever hybrid patrol vehicles.
The Cherry Hill Police Department would like to thank Captain Humes for his hard work and dedication to the residents of the Township of Cherry Hill. We wish him a happy and healthy retirement and success in all his future endeavors.
