Houston Police investigating fatal tractor trailer crash

Houston, Texas

HOUSTON, TX  – Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11400 Southwest Freeway about 4:25 a.m. today (January 28).   The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.  

HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer M Tamez reported a tractor truck towing a trailer and forklift was traveling southbound on the Southwest Freeway.  A black Nissan 350Z , also traveling southbound, failed to control its speed and struck the rear of the tractor-trailer.  The impact caused the Nissan to burst into flames and the driver of the Nissan was pronounced dead at the scene.  The driver of the tractor trailer was not injured.   The investigation is continuing.
