BRIDGETON, NJ – An 11-year-old boy was shot in both legs after he and two other children exited their home on Falcon Street to see what the disturbance was in the nearby alley.

The incident happened at 2 a.m. Sunday morning according to the Bridgeton Police Department. When the boys exited the home to see what was going on, gunshots rang out, striking the child in both legs. Neighbors and responding officers provided first aid until the boy was rushed to Cooper University Hospital. Police say he is recovering in stable condition. No other injuries were reported and police do not have any suspects in custody at this time.

Bridgeton Police Chief Michael Gaimari commended the efforts of Acting Sgt. Zach Martorana and Officers Richard Keener and Chris Giacomelli, saying without their help, the incident could have ended much worse.
