Police officers responding to domestic disturbance find man in process of decapitating woman

CLIFTON HEIGHTS, PA – While responding to a domestic disturbance 9-1-1 call in Delaware County Friday morning, Clifton Heights discovered a man in the process of decapitating his girlfriend inside their South Springfield Road apartment. Police arrived to the call and knocked on the door, but the man inside did not answer.

One of the officers peeked inside a side window and saw Nicholas Scurria, 32 committing the heinous act. Police forced entry into the apartment and took Scurria into custody, but his victim was already deceased.

“I’ve been an officer for 32 years, this is absolutely horrible,” Clifton Heights Police Chief Timothy Rockenbach said. “I don’t even know what words I could describe to you how actually incredibly insane this is, especially in my town.”

The shocking scene unfolded as officers made their way into the apartment, and even for seasoned veterans, was shocking. Police said the call came in from a neighbor who heard the commotion.
