U.S. Marshals Capture West Tennessee Federal Prison Escapee in East Tennessee

Memphis, TN
– Following a joint investigation by the Marshals
Service and FBI, Cecil Corey Haggins, 33, of McMinnville, TN, was
arrested this afternoon by Marshals from the Eastern and Western
Districts of Tennessee. Haggins and his girlfriend were both taken into
custody at a hotel on Interstate Drive in Manchester, TN. They are being
held at the Coffee County Jail and both are anticipated to face federal
charges related to his escape.

On June 14, Bureau of Prisons
staff conducted a special count and determined that Haggins was missing
from the Federal Correctional Institution- Memphis, Federal Prison Camp
in Millington. Haggins was serving a 120-month sentence for possession
with intent to distribute fifty grams or more of a methamphetamine
mixture and possession of a firearm in furtherance of a drug trafficking
offense.

“Escapees pose a unique threat because they know the
consequences if caught,” said U.S. Marshal Tyreece Miller. “Now Mr.
Haggins will have even more time to think. I’m grateful for the
partnerships with the FBI and the Marshals on the other end of the
state.”
