Surreños 13 Gang Member Arrested in the Mountains

OCOTILLO, Calif. – U.S. Border Patrol agents assigned to the El Centro Sector arrested a gang member Tuesday morning in the Jacumba Wilderness region.

At approximately 7 a.m., agents encountered an undocumented individual who illegally entered the United States, three miles north of the U.S./Mexico border. The individual was arrested and transported to the El Centro Sector Processing Center to be further medically evaluated and processed accordingly.  

Record checks revealed this individual is a documented member of a street gang known as the Surreños (Sur-13).  This individual has extensive criminal and immigration history that includes numerous felony and misdemeanor convictions as well as multiple re-entries after deportation. This individual was previously ordered to be removed from the U.S by an Immigration judge.

U.S. Border Patrol will process the individual accordingly.
