Two shot, 28-year-old killed in Capitol Heights

CAPITOL HEIGHTS, MD – Police in District Heights are continuing to investigate a shooting that took place Sunday morning in Capitol Heights.

Police reported 28-year-old Donte Morton of District Heights was found shot in a parking lot Sunday morning at 3:00 am with multiple gunshot wounds.

He was pronounced dead at a hospital a short time later. A second adult male was also shot during this incident. His injuries do not appear life-threatening.

“Investigators have identified all of the individuals involved in this incident and are actively examining evidence,” the Prince Georges Police Department said in a statement. “The preliminary investigation revealed the decedent and the second adult male both fired handguns during an altercation. Detectives are also in consultation with the State’s Attorney’s Office regarding any potential criminal charges in this case.”
