New Castle- A 35-year-old Delaware man, Ronny Bailey, 35, of New Castle for drug and weapon charges following a traffic stop Tuesday night.
According to the Delaware State Police, on Tuesday, at approximately 11:10 p.m., officers were on patrol in the area of Route 13 and Bacon Avenue.
“A unit member observed a silver Lexus traveling northbound Route 13 and fail to signal while making a lane change,” the DSP reported. “A traffic stop was initiated and upon contact, the trooper immediately smelled an odor of marijuana emitting from inside of the vehicle.”
At that point, police said all four occupants of the vehicle were detained, and a probable cause search was conducted.
“During the search, troopers discovered a Smith & Wesson 9mm semi-automatic handgun with an obliterated serial number, one 9mm magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition, 18 pills of ecstasy, approximately 15 grams of marijuana, a taser, and a digital scale.”
The items, police say, belonged to a passenger, Ronny Bailey. Bailey was charged with drug and weapons charges. The other occupants of the vehicle were released.
