19-Year Old Shot and Killed in Reading, Suspect in Custody

READING, PA – A 19-year-old man was shot and killed Friday evening in the area of Schuylkill Avenue, at about 5:17 pm, the Reading Police Department reported.

Officers responded to the area of Lackawanna Street and Schuylkill Avenue for the report of a shooting.

“A 19-year-old male victim was located deceased at that location,” RPD said in a statement. “Suspect information was provided and officers were able to locate the suspect later identified as Wilson Ventura-Cruz, 18 y/o, and take him into custody with out further incident.”

Ventura-Cruz was charged with 1st Degree Murder and related charges.

The deceased teen was not immediately identified.
