Police Say Man Who Brought Loaded Gun on School Property Was Intoxicated

New Fairfield, CT – The job of a school resource officer usually goes unnoticed as they focus on building relationships with students and making sure each day goes smoothly, but for Police Officer Jason Cassavechia, at the Meeting House Hill School, the bottom line reason he is posted came to light.

On Monday, a man entered the school grounds and Cassavechia was notified. An adult male subject was seen smoking on school property. After investigating, Officer Cassavechia noticed the man was under the influence of alcohol, and during the process of placing him under arrest, he found a loaded gun.

Richard J. Logo, of New Fairfield, was arrested by police after being transported to Danbury Hospital for observation. He was charged and released on a $1,000 bond. At no time were students in imminent danger and Logo did not make any threats to the school or students, according to a police report filed by Cassevechia.
