70-Year-Old Sikh Attacked in Predominantly Indian Section of Queens

NEW YORK, NY – The New York City Police Department said a 70-year-old Sikh man was assaulted early Monday morning in the Richmond Hill section of Queens. That section of the city is affectionately known as Little Punjab for its largely South Asian ethnic population and high density of Punjabi businesses and restaurants.

Police said the attack took place in the vicinity of Lefferts Boulevard and 95th Avenue. The unidentified individual approached a 70-yr-old victim wearing traditional Sikh articles of faith & assaulted him.

No further details were provided by police.
