EL PASO, Texas – U.S. Customs and Border Protection Officers at the Port of Presidio, Texas apprehended a man being sought for a fatal shooting that occurred on January 30, 2021, in Midland, Texas.
“On a daily basis CBP officers identify and apprehend people who are being sought by law enforcement who seek sanctuary across the border,” said Director Field Operations Hector A. Mancha. “Working closely with law enforcement agencies is essential to the success of our mission.”
On April 13, CBP officers encountered a 24-year-old male U.S. citizen via pedestrian who surrendered to CBP officers upon arrival. He was escorted to the port by Mexican law enforcement officials.
Initial queries by CBP officers, revealed an outstanding warrant for murder. A secondary inspection was conducted utilizing biometric verification which confirmed his identity along with the active warrant for murder out of the Midland Country Sheriff’s Office, Midland, Texas.
The individual was arrested by CBP officers and taken into custody by the Lone Star Task Force who were waiting at the port.
