Schenectady Police Investigating Central Park Stabbing, Teen Charged with Attempted Murder

Schenectady, NY – Police in Schenectady are investigating the stabbing of a man sitting on a bench inside Central Park

“At approximately 2:33 a.am. on March 8, 2022, officers from the Schenectady Police Department were dispatched to the area of 500 Iroquois Way (Central Park) for a reported stabbing. Upon officers’ arrival on scene, they observed a male sitting on a park bench in front of the Rose Garden that was suffering from multiple stab wounds,” the Schenectady Police Department said. “The male, 30 years old from Selkirk, NY, was treated on scene by members from the Schenectady Fire Department and transported to Albany Medical Center.”

Since that time, the Schenectady Police Department’s Detective Division and Youth Aid Bureau have been investigating the incident further.

Last night, April 13, 2022, patrol officers located a 16-year-old suspect in this incident. Due to the suspect’s age, his name will not be released. He was arrested and charged with the following:
