Laredo Sector Border Patrol K9s lead to the success of halting several human smuggling attempts

LAREDO, Texas – Over the course of two days, Laredo Sector Border Patrol agents utilizing Service canines halted three human smuggling attempts at the Interstate Highway 35 checkpoint north of Laredo, Texas.  All cases involved tractor-trailers, resulting in over 300 undocumented individuals being apprehended.

In all three incidents, Service canines were instrumental in alerting agents of the individuals being smuggled in the trailers.  The undocumented individuals were identified as being from the countries of Mexico, Guatemala, Honduras, El Salvador, Nicaragua, and Ecuador.  All individuals, including the drivers, were medically screened and provided with personal protective equipment.  They were taken into custody to be processed accordingly.  All three human smuggling cases were turned over to HSI for further investigation.
