Teen Waving Handgun While Illegally Riding Dirt Bike Through Syracuse Neighborhood Charged

SYRACUSE, NY – A 15-year-old male from Syracuse was arrested and charged after he was caught riding a dirtbike on city streets, waving a handgun in the air.

According to the Syracuse Police Department, on Wednesday, at around 6:30 PM, Officers responded to the 4000 block of S Salina in regards to a suspicious person with a weapon complaint.

“Calls were made to 911 that two juvenile looking males were riding a dirt bike in the area and one was seen waving a handgun around,” the department said in a statement. “Upon arrival, Officer McGuire observed two juveniles on a dirt bike exiting the AutoZone parking lot. Officer McGuire engaged his emergency lights and stopped the juveniles, one being a 15-year-old male and the other being a 17-year-old male.”

Police reported Officer Power and Officer Blazey arrived on the scene. Officer Power detained the 17-year-old male while Officer Blazey assisted Office McGuire in detaining the 15-year-old male. Officers quickly discovered that the 15-year-old male was in possession of a loaded Titan 25. caliber handgun that was in the sweatshirt pocket he was wearing.
