Schenectady Police Investigating Suspicious Dog Death

Schenectady, NY – Schenectady police are investigating after a dead dog was fond wrapped inside a blanket along a Central Park trail.

According to police, on Saturday at approximately 3:57 pm, Schenectady County Dispatch received a call from an individual walking in Central Park stating that a deceased dog was found.

“Officers responded and located a deceased dog wrapped in a blanket. The animal appeared to be an older dog with a gray face. Schenectady Police Evidence Technicians and the Animal Control Officer also responded to the scene,” police said.

The animal will be sent to Cornell University, and a necropsy will be completed to determine if there was any foul play, police said.

“If anyone has any information in regards to this animal, we are asking that you contact the department, at 518-382-5200 ext. 5655. This incident remains under investigation,” the department added.
