One Shot and Killed in Lindenwold Shooting

LINDENWOLD, NJ – The Lindenwold Police Department has arrested Trashawn Simpson, a 20-year-old Camden man for the murder of Alvin Redd on Saturday.

Simpson, of Camden, was charged on Saturday with one count of first-degree murder in reference to the homicide of Alvin Redd, 25, of Lindenwold, according to Lindenwold Police Chief Michael P. McCarthy, Jr.

Chief McCarthy said Simpson was found and taken into custody in New Castle, Delaware at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Wednesday by members of the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force – Camden Division and the U.S. Marshals Service First State Regional Fugitive Task Force.

“On Friday, April 22, 2022, at approximately 8:09 p.m., officers from the Lindenwold Police Department responded to the 400 block of West Park Avenue in Lindenwold for multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots.  Upon arrival, officers located Redd lying in the street suffering from an apparent gunshot wound,” according to a Lindenwold police report. “The victim was transported to Jefferson Hospital-Stratford, where he was pronounced deceased at approximately 8:47 p.m.  Another man, a 29-year-old Camden resident, also was injured during a physical altercation related to the shooting and later arrived at Jefferson Hospital-Stratford for treatment.”
