UTICA, NY – A male subject who robbed a convenience store on Oswego Street on Thursday has been captured.

According to the Utica Police Department, on April 28th, at approximately 5:00 PM Utica Police units were dispatched to a convenience store on Oswego St regarding an argument. While en route, it was learned that a customer was now displaying a handgun at the clerk and threatening him with it, due to the clerk attempting to intervene in the argument.

Upon arrival, the officers were able to review surveillance footage, witness the interaction, and recognized the male from prior police involvements. A BOLO was sent out, and officers located the suspect, Kayvill Voliton age 23, of Utica a short time later on Plant St,” the department said. “As they attempted to stop Voliton, he fled on foot and the officers gave chase, ultimately catching him in a rear yard of a nearby residence.
