Pedestrian Struck and Killed in Jersey City

JERSEY CITY, NJ – Police aren’t releasing the name of the victim at this time, but on Monday one person was struck and killed while crossing the street in Jersey City.

According to the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit a fatal crash involving a pedestrian that occurred on Monday at around 9:50 pm.

The Jersey City Police Department responded to the area of Sip Avenue and Routes 1 and 9 on reports of a pedestrian stuck. Responding officers located a male victim with multiple injuries and he was pronounced dead at the scene.

“A preliminary investigation revealed the pedestrian was crossing the roadway when he was struck by an SUV that was traveling north. The driver of the vehicle remained at the scene. The pedestrian was subsequently stuck by a second vehicle,” the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office reported. “The identity of the victim is being withheld pending notification of his next of kin. The Jersey City Police Department is actively investigating with the assistance of the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit.”
