Man Who Shot Woman and Her Neighbor Being Sought in Queens

NEW YORK, NY – THe New York City Police department reported a shooting inside a home on Fresh Pond Road on Monday that took the life of a 51-year-old woman and left a 48-year-old woman shot. Police said the suspect, Pedro Cintron is now a fugitive on the run.

The Ridgewood incident took the life of Migdalia Ortega, who worked as a civilian staffer with the New York City Police Department. She suffered a single gunshot wound to the head. Her neighbor was shot in the abdomen and shoulder, police said.

“A preliminary investigation indicates that this began as a domestic incident between the 51-year-old female and a male in the third-floor apartment,” Deputy Chief Julie Morrow said. “During the dispute, the 48-year-old second-floor neighbor went to check on the third-floor occupants. She was then shot and fled back to her apartment. The male suspect followed her and continued shooting.”
