Berkeley Police Investigating Claim of Gun at Middle School Bus Stop

BERKELEY TOWNSHIP, NJ – Police in Berkeley Township are continuing to investigate a report of a gun present at a middle school bus stop Tuesday morning.

According to police, at 7:45 am, officers responded to the Central Regional Middle School for a suspicious incident.

“This incident involved a school bus, which had not yet arrived at the school,” police said in a statement. “At this time, the situation has been mitigated by police and Central Regional staff without incident. There is no current threat to any students or staff. This is an ongoing investigation involving juveniles and more information will be released as permissible.”

It was eventually determined that the student apprehended by police had a toy gun with them at the bus stop. It was determined there was no threat posed to students or faculty at the school.
