Pennsylvania Groom Accused of Sexually Assaulting Bridesmaid Convicted

EAST STROUDSBURG, PA – Daniel Carney, of Stroudsburg, has been convicted by a jury of attempted sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault, indecent assault, and simple assault after he attacked one of his bride-to-be’s bridesmaids just days before their wedding in Shawnee back in 2019.

Originally charged with Rape, Carney was acquitted of the more serious charge. In the court case, Carney and the bridesmaid were allegedly drunk after a day of river rafting.

“We are pleased with the verdict, and we are hopeful that this will encourage victims to come forward to our office for these types of cases,” said Christy Schlottman, Assistant District Attorney.
