South River Police Report Motor Vehicle Burglary and “Cat” Thieves

SOUTH RIVER, NJ – The South River Police Department has reported the following incidents that occurred in April. The information from those crimes was released publicly on May 13th.

“Our weekly police blotter highlights noteworthy incidents that occur on a day to day basis in order to keep our community informed. Please keep in mind that, in the case of any ongoing investigation, we are not able to release certain details and information,” the department said. “In the case of major incidents or investigations, press releases are typically issued at a later date.”

MOTOR VEHICLE BURGLARY, Robert Street on 4/4 @ 0300 hours – Patrol units responded to a report of a male who had entered an unlocked vehicle. A suspect was located in the area by officers and charged with burglary. Ptl. Matthew McCann was the arresting officer.

THEFT, Whitehead Avenue on 4/7 @ 1547 hours – A report was taken for the theft of a catalytic converter from a vehicle. The incident remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to contact D/Sgt. Bernard Mackiel at 732-254-9002 ext. 106.
