WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police arrested 22-year-old Michael Yang of Wilmington, on weapon and related charges following a criminal investigation the agency said in a police report today.

“On May 15, 2022, at approximately 3:11 p.m., troopers responded to the 2400 block of Silverside Road, Wilmington, for a criminal investigation,” the DSP said. “Michael Yang, who called 911, later pulled into the driveway where the trooper was parked. While contacting Yang the trooper smelled an odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle and noticed Yang was showing signs of possible impairment. The trooper gave commands for Yang to keep his vehicle parked and remain within the vehicle.”

Yang then attempted to back his vehicle into the police vehicle, at which time the trooper again gave commands for him to stop and exit the vehicle.

Police said he complied and exited his vehicle. Upon the trooper attempting to take Yang into custody, he resisted arrest. Eventually, the trooper was able to take Yang into custody. A subsequent search of Yang’s vehicle led to the discovery of a firearm. No one was injured during the incident.
