Dog Thief Who Entered Home Through Window Arrested for Theft

CUMBERLAND, MD – Police in Cumberland have announced the arrest of Alex James McDonald, age 30, through an arrest warrant that was issued by the Allegany County District Court. McDonald was wanted for breaking into a home and robbing a dog.

“The investigation was conducted by the Cumberland Police on May 16, 2022, and a suspect was identified. Through the investigation, it was learned that Alex James McDonald unlawfully entered a residence on Washington Street, Cumberland Maryland,” police said. “McDonald unlawfully entered the residence to commit a theft of a dog.”

Police said McDonald gained access to the house by removing an air conditioning unit and entered through a window. He was taken to Central Booking for his initial appearance with the District Court Commissioner. He was held without bond.
