San Francisco Police Extends the Termination of the MOU with San Francisco District Attorney’s Office 22-066

On February 22, 2022, an Extension Agreement between the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office and the San Francisco Police Department was signed to extend the termination of the Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) for the investigation of officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and certain incidents involving uses of force resulting in serious bodily injury.

This agreement was due to expire on May 20, 2022. On May 12, 2022, an amendment to this Extension Agreement was agreed upon for an additional 60 days, which is set to expire on July 22, 2022. During this time period, we will continue to work with the independent mediator as we negotiate a new MOU.

This Extension Agreement extends the ability of the District Attorney’s Office to continue to independently investigate officer-involved shootings, in-custody deaths, and uses of force resulting in serious bodily injury. The Department will continue to collaborate with the District Attorney’s Office during this time period.
