Schools Locked Down After Man Shot in Utica Apartment Complex Parking Lot

UTICA, NY – Police in Utica and school officials put two schools on lockdown Wednesday afternoon after a man was shot at the Michael Walsh Apartment complex on 1204 Gray Avenue. The incident happened at around 1:45 pm and upon arrival, a male victim was located in the parking lot suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the abdomen.

“He was immediately transported by the Utica Fire Department to St. Elizabeth’s Hospital where he is still undergoing emergency care,” the Utica Police Department said. “The status of the victim will be updated as available. Due to the proximity of the incident to two local schools, both schools were placed on a LOCKOUT status, which was lifted in order to facilitate dismissal. There was no threat to the schools at any point.”
