HYATTSVILLE, MD – A Hyattsville man was killed in a crash on Central Avenue in Mount Pleasant on Monday.
Police have identified the deceased driver is identified as 28-year-old Jose Hernandez Chavez of Hyattsville.
“On May 23, 2022, at approximately 3:45 pm, officers responded to the 8400 block of Central Avenue in Seat Pleasant for a collision involving three vehicles,” the Prince George’s County Police Department reported. “The preliminary investigation revealed that the driver of a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Central Avenue. Hernandez and the driver of a third vehicle were waiting at a traffic light, when the driver of the pickup struck the rear of Hernandez Chavez’s vehicle, causing his car to collide with a third vehicle.”
Hernandez Chavez was transported to a hospital where he was pronounced dead. The other involved drivers were not injured.
