Car Thief Ejected from Vehicle by Owner in Westfield

WESTFIELD, NJ – A man who went into a store came out to find a suspect trying to steal his car last week. The owner was able to interrupt the would-be car thief attempting to steal his vehicle and threw him out of the car.

“The victim stated he parked his vehicle and entered a business to make a purchase. After making the purchase and while returning to his vehicle, the victim observed a male sitting in the driver seat attempting to start the vehicle,” Westfield police said. “The victim startled the actor and ejected the actor from the vehicle. The actor then ran towards an awaiting vehicle. Said awaiting vehicle was confirmed stolen from another jurisdiction.”

A search of the area by responding units provided negative results for the suspects or the suspect vehicle.
