New Jersey Jewelry Store Hit by Violent Smash and Grab, Shopkeepers Held at Gunpoint

WOODBRIDGE, NJ – Brace yourself, New Jersey, big city-style smash and grabs have arrived in the once peaceful Garden State. A crime that we all watched play out countless times in cities across America has taken place in Woodbridge.

A violent smash and grab robbery by armed men wearing ski masks and gloves took place Friday night at around 7:45 pm at the Virani Jewelers store on Oak Tree Road in the Iselin section of Woodbridge.

The gunmen forced their way into the store, forcing shop workers and a female worker to the ground at gunpoint. The gunmen stuck their guns into the backs of the heads of the victims, shouting, “get on the floor.”

In total, at least 8 gunmen rushed the store at once and began to smash showcases full of hundreds of thousands of dollars worth of jewelry. About one minute later, the store was nearly completely cleaned of all of its merchandise, and the suspects fled.

They escaped in a getaway car outside the shop as one man yelled, “come on!” repeatedly to a straggler trying to steal more jewelry after the heist was over.
