NYPD Rescue Boater Thrown Overboard After Vessel Capsized and Sank

NEW YORK, NY – The New York Police Department’s aviation and SCUBA teams responded to a boater in distress call and rescued one person for the water in Jamaica Bay. Police responded with two rescue divers to rescue the operator who was thrown overboard after his boat capsized.

Police successfully rescued the uninjured male, who was hoisted onto the aircraft and safely transported to shore. The incident happened Wednesday morning at around 7:05 am. The boater was wearing a life jacket. He was flown to Floyd Bennett Field for medical evaluation.
