Ocean City Police Seeking to Identify Boardwalk Rug Thief

OCEAN CITY, MD – Police in Ocean City are searching for a suspect who broke into a boardwalk shop and stole a custom rug. He may have wanted it to hide under after the dismal season of the Philadelphia 76ers, but that is unconfirmed.

The man was captured on surveillance video wearing a Philadelphia 76ers basketball jersey.

“The Ocean City Police Department is currently investigating a theft that occurred on June 16th, 2022 at 3:50 AM in the area of the boardwalk on 2nd Street. The suspect stole a custom rug from underneath a metal gate from a local shop,” the Ocean City Police Department reported today.

If anyone can identify the male, please contact Officer Helias at ahelias@oceancitymd.gov or 410-723-6610.
