Harford County Barn Completely Destroyed in Massive Blaze, Arson Suspected

HARFORD COUNTY, MD – A large barn fire was reported on Onion Road in Harford County and ended in a complete loss for the owners on Sunday.

According to Deputy State Fire Marshals, a fifteen-year-old boy with arson charges stemming from a large barn fire that occurred this afternoon in the 5300 block of Onion Road.

“The barn and its contents are considered a complete loss with damages estimated to be over $750,000,” the Deputy State FireMarhsals said. “Just before 12:30 p.m., the Norrisville Volunteer Fire Company and multiple surrounding departments were dispatched for reports of an approximate 50’ x 100’ barn ablaze. The Office of the State Fire Marshal was requested to investigate the origin and cause, and investigators concluded the fire was an intentional act.”

After confirming his involvement, Deputy State Fire Marshals consulted with the Harford County State’s Attorney’s Office, and the youth was subsequently charged with 2nd Degree Arson, 1st Degree Malicious Burning, and Maliciuos Destruction of Property. The youth was released to the custody of his parents and referred to the Department of Juvenile Services.
