One Dead in Drowning in Four Mile Run

ALEXANDRIA, VA. – Police in Alexandria have reported one man has died in a drowning incident in Four Mile Run.

According to police, at approximately 2:04 p.m. on Monday, officers were dispatched to the 3900 block of Richmond Highway for a man who had possibly drowned in the Four Mile Run stream.

“Multiple jurisdictions and departments were on scene to assist with the rescue including the Alexandria Fire Department, Arlington County Police Department, the Arlington County Fire Department, and D.C. Metropolitan Police,” police reported.

The man, Tewodros Teferi, 52, was discovered and removed from the water by the Fire Department’s water rescue team, and EMS personnel attempted resuscitation efforts, but the efforts were unsuccessful.  Mr. Teferi was pronounced dead on the scene.

APD does not suspect foul play but will continue to conduct a thorough investigation of the incident.
