North Tonawanda Police Department Says Police Donation Letter is a Scam

Pile of old mails letters and envelopes on wooden table

NORTH TONAWANDA, NY – Police in North Tonawanda say a flyer being sent to local residents is a scam and they should not send their private information or money as it will not go to the department.

“We have received reports that a mailer scam is targeting local resident’s. The scam asks recipients of the letter to donate and show their support to the North Tonawanda Police Department,” police said today. “The mailer has a survey inside that asks the receiver to complete and return. The Mailer is well made and misleadingly. The scammers use the name “ the Citizens behind the Badge” with a return address in Virginia.”

This group had no affiliation with the North Tonawanda Police Department. If you are a victim of a scam its very important you report it to your local police department.
