Police Arrest Pennsylvania 18-Year-Olds Who Made Threat at Rio Grande Wawa

RIO GRANDE, NJ – Rio Grande, a town west of the Wildwoods was the scene of a threat of an active shooter on Tuesday. Police locked down the store and began their investigation, leading to the arrest of two 18-year-old Pennsylvania men in West Wildwood.

According to police, at 4:30 am, the Middle Township Police Department was notified of a threatening phone call made to the Wawa convenience store in the Rio Grande section of Middle Township.  An unknown subject called Wawa and said they were going to shoot everyone in the store with an AR57.  Middle Township Patrol Division responded to the store and immediately began an investigation.  

“As a precaution, the store was closed for several hours and the Middle Township Police Patrol Division remained at the store and increased patrols in the Rio Grande area,” police reported . “The Middle Township Police Department Major Crimes Unit and the Cape May County Prosecutor’s Office responded to the scene.  As a result of the investigation, Matthew Goldstein, age 18 of Feasterville, Pennsylvania and Joseph Vannauker, age 18 of Levittown, Pennsylvania were arrested in West Wildwood.”
