300 Acre Fire Burns at Brendan Byrne Forest in Manchester

MANCHESTER, NJ – A few miles south of New Jersey’s Joint Base MDL, another forest fire has ignited after a large fire in Mullica Hill raged for days and had been extinguished days earlier.

The New Jersey Forest Fire Service today reported the 300-acre blaze between Manchester Township and Woodland Township is now 50% contained.

“The New Jersey Forest Fire Service has made substantial progress in containing a wildfire in Brendan T. Byrne State Forest which has reached 300 acres in size and is 50% contained,” the agency said. “Earlier this evening Forest Fire Service crews conducted a backfiring operation to aide in containment.”

No structures are threatened. No injuries have been reported.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
