Police Investigating Botched Macy’s Jewelry Robbery, Assault at Lakeforest Mall

Gaithersburg, Maryland – Police are asking the public to help identify a robbery suspect who assaulted a worker at Macy’s inside the Lakeforest Mall on Saturday.

According to police, at approximately 11:04 a.m., officers responded to the mall for the report of an attempted robbery that just occurred.

“The investigation by detectives has determined that the suspect entered the store and asked to see some jewelry. When the employee removed a tray of jewelry from a cabinet, the suspect attempted to steal it from the employee, but he was unsuccessful. The suspect then struck the employee in the face and attempted to steal another tray of jewelry. The suspect ran out of the store and fled the scene without any property in his possession,” police said. “The adult female victim sustained non-life-threatening injuries.”

Police described the suspect as a black male with a beard, large build, in his 40’s, approximately 6-feet tall, wearing black glasses, silver necklace, black baseball hat, white/black/green/gray polo shirt, blue jeans, and multicolor sneakers.
