Fire Breaks Out At Jersey Shore Baseball Stadium During Fourth of July Fireworks Show

LAKEWOOD, NJ – A fire broke out in the outfield landscaping at the Jersey Shore BlueClaws minor league baseball team’s annual Fourth of July fireworks show at ShoreTown Stadium in Lakewood. The fire was caused by the pyrotechnics used during the fireworks display. Team officials said the fire was limited to the decorative landscaping and shrubbery beyond the outfield wall. The Lakewood Fire Department, which was present during the display quickly responded to extinguish the fire.

The area of the stadium where the fire occurred was cleared prior to the fireworks show, a standard practice by the team.

The BlueClaws had just lost an 8-0 game to the Hudson Valley Renegades. There were no injuries reported.

This is the second time a fireworks display sparked a fire at the stadium. In 2019, fire broke out again behind the centerfield wall of then First Energy Park, burning a concession on July 14.
