UTICA, NY – On Monday, Utica police arrested two 17-year-olds caught in a stolen car after a brief pursuit. Police discovered a loaded handgun in the vehicle upon making the arrests.

At approximately 10:05 PM on Monday, officers noticed a stolen vehicle that had been reported taken approximately an hour earlier.

“Upon attempting to stop it the operator failed to comply and led the officers on a short pursuit before two parties jumped from the car and began running away,” police said. “After containing the area two males were located and detained. Within feet of one of the parties the officers located a loaded .22 caliber handgun. Upon utilizing a thermal imaging device it showed a strong heat signature as if it had just been in someone’s possession.”
