Suspect in Custody Tuesday Morning Grocery Store Murder in Camden

Camden, N.J.– Police in Camden have made an arrest in the shooting death of Luis Morales. Camden County Prosecutor Grace C. MacAulay announced Yaphet Norman, 31, was taken into custody on Wednesday and charged with felony murder.

Police said Norman is currently lodged at the Camden County Correctional Facility.

According to police records, after receiving multiple 911 calls for reports of a robbery, officers of the Camden County Metro Police Department responded to Fortuna Grocery at Louis and Kaighn Avenue on Tuesday at 10:57 a.m. 

“Upon arrival, officers located a male inside of the store suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.  The male was identified as 40-year-old Luis Morales.  Morales was transported by ambulance to Cooper University Hospital where he was pronounced deceased at 11:25 a.m,” police reported.
