Job Seeker Steals From 5 Purses During Job Interview in Newark

NEWARK, NJ – A woman who showed up for a job interview at a Newark business on Wednesday ended up just stealing money from the purses of 5 employees instead.

According to police, at around 1 p.m., officers responded to a business at 661 South 11th Street on a call of a theft. The suspect arrived at the business driving a 4-door, silver Hyundai Sonata.

“She entered the business and inquired about a job. After receiving the information, she navigated through the building into an employee lounge area, where she stole cash from the purses of five employees,” police said.

The amount stolen totals $533.00.

Detectives investigating this incident are seeking the public’s help in identifying the suspect, who is described as having a medium brown complexion and was wearing a long, black head scarf, black tank top, leopard leggings, and gold and silver sandals.
