Driver Ejected, Passenger Critical During Crash in Griswold

GRISWOLD, CT – Police responded to a crash in Griswold on Thursday when at approximately 6:38 p.m., a 2019 Hyundai Accent was traveling north on Preston Road at the intersection of Slater Avenue left the roadway.

“At the intersection, the Hyundai ran off the roadway, struck a fire hydrant, rolled over, and struck a tree before coming to uncontrolled final rest in the grass beyond the shoulder of the westbound lane of Slater Avenue,” police said.

The Driver, a 31-year-old Jewett City man, was ejected from the vehicle. The passenger, a 30-year-old Jewett City female, also sustained significant injuries and both were transported by ambulance for medical attention. The vehicle sustained disabling damage consistent with the nature of the accident and was towed from the scene.
