Two Victims Charged in Tuesday’s Double Shooting in Essex

ESSEX, MD – Police have made an arrest in the double shooting that occurred Tuesday night in Essex. At this time, it wasn’t the shooters, but the victims who were allegedly involved in an illegal drug transaction.

According to police, on Friday, detectives filed criminal charges against the two individuals injured in the double shooting that occurred Tuesday morning in Essex.

“Both defendants have been charged with CDS possession with intent to distribute and firearm-related charges, which stem from illicit drugs and a weapon detectives discovered in the defendant’s vehicle,” police said.

According to the police report, on July 26, at approximately 10:15 a.m., officers responded to the intersection of Compass Road & Martin Boulevard following reports of a shooting.

“When officers arrived, they located a 43-year-old male and a 42-year-old female suffering from gunshot wounds. Based on cell phone video provided to detectives, at least one automatic weapon was used to commit this crime, which detectives believe was a targeted shooting,” police said.

Police are continuing their search for the shooters.
