One Dead After Garbage Truck Crashes Into Home

WILMERDING, PA- The Allegheny County Police Department’s Homicide Unit and Collision Reconstruction Unit responded to Wilmerding for a request for assistance.

“At approximately 3:59 a.m. on August 2, 2022, County 9-1-1 was notified of a garbage truck into a residence in the 400 block of Patton Street,” according to police. “First responders found the driver, a 47-year-old male, deceased at the scene.”

Investigators stated that the truck was traveling on Jefferson Street and attempting to make a turn onto Patton Street when it tipped over and struck two homes. Despite one of the homes being occupied, there were no reported injuries.

Detectives and a reconstruction team initiated an investigation.
