Police Arrest Man for Last Week’s Shooting in Utica

UTICA, NY – A suspect has been arrested and charged for a shooting last week in Utica. According to police, on July 23rd, a victim was struck in the legs by gunfire.

“As a result, the investigation was handled by a member of the Utica Police Department Major Crimes Unit. Through the investigation a suspect was developed and attempts to locate him were undertaken,” police said. “On August 3, 2022, Utica Police units were dispatched to a fight call on Deborah Dr involving the suspect. Prior to their arrival he had left the scene, however, information was developed regarding a vehicle the party was operating.”

Some time later officers located the vehicle and conducted a stop locating the suspect inside. This male, Idris Brown age 23 of Utica, was arrested without incident and transported to the Utica Police Department.

The victim in this incident did not suffer any life-threatening injuries.
