52 Year-Old Woman Shot To Death In D.C., Suspect Kills Himself

WASHINGTON, D.C. – A 52 year-old woman is dead in D.C., and the suspect in her murder was found with a self inflicted gunshot wound. The shooting took place on Wednesday on the 200 Block of Savannah Street in Southeast, D.C.

Police say, “At approximately 8:17 am, members of the Seventh District responded to the listed location for the report of a shooting. Upon arrival, the members located an adult female victim suffering from apparent gunshot wounds. DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services responded to the scene and transported the victim to a local hospital. After all life-saving efforts failed, the victim was pronounced dead. The detectives’ investigation revealed that this offense was domestic in nature.”

52-year-old Leslie Simpson of Southeast, D.C. was identified as the victim.

An investigation identified Steven Dreher, 65, from Southeast D.C. as the suspect. Dreher was located deceased as a result of an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound in Laurel, Maryland.
