Police Find Greenbelt City Armed Carjacker Using Onboard Tracking System

GREENBELT CITY, MD – An 18-year-old armed carjacker miscalculated technology when he carjacked a victim at gunpoint Thursday night on Lakeside Drive. Police were able to locate the vehicle and the suspect shortly after the incident was reported.

According to police, at approximately 11:39 p.m., Greenbelt police responded to the 200 block of Lakeside Dr for an armed carjacking.

“The victim stated two males wearing masks pointed a gun at the victim and took the victim’s vehicle. The victim was not injured,” the Greenbelt City Police Department said. “The victim was able to ping the location of their vehicle, and the vehicle was located by DC Metropolitan police.”

18-year-old Kenneth Perkins, of Washington, DC, was arrested. CIU detectives are currently working on obtaining charges for the carjacking.
