Columbus Man Dies After Driving Through Intersection and Into Embankment

COLUMBUS, OH- The Columbus Police Department is investigating a fatal car crash that took place on Thursday.

The victim was driving in his 1998 Toyota Avalon westbound on West 5th Avenue approaching McKinley Ave. He failed to control the Toyota and drove through the intersection off the west side of the roadway.

“After leaving the roadway the Toyota drove up an embankment and vaulted off it then fell into
the quarry below,” according to police. “Columbus Fire Dive team arrived and pulled him from the Toyota. Medics arrived and pronounced the victim deceased.”

The Accident Investigation Unit responded to the scene and initiated an investigation which is ongoing.
