Sinkholes Force Closure of Jersey Shore Beach

BRADLEY BEACH, NJ – Bradley Beach Mayor Larry Fox today said portions of Bradley Beach have been closed since last week due to sinkholes in the sand.

The areas near the sinkhole have been fenced off for the safety of beachgoers after a large sinkhole appeared last Thursday. The holes were caused, reportedly by an outflow pipe on the beach.

Earlier this summer, a boy lost his life after a sinkhole swallowed him and his sister while they were playing on the beach, digging a hole.

The sinkhole in Bradley Beach is reportedly caused by leaks in the underground outflow pipe.
